Philadelphia Lincoln Car Parts
There are five major components of a Lincoln automobile. And with each of these components, there are Lincoln parts that at any time may need to be replaced. These include the engine, transmission, chassis, suspension, and wheels/tires. Trying to understand exactly how an engine works and what each part of the Lincoln does can be bewildering. But having a basic idea is important. The purpose of a gasoline car engine is to convert gasoline into motion so that your car can move. Currently the easiest way to create motion from gasoline is to burn the gasoline inside an engine. Therefore, a car engine is an internal combustion engine -- combustion takes place internally. Almost all cars currently use what is called a four-stroke combustion cycle to convert gasoline into motion. The four-stroke approach is also known as the Otto cycle, in honor of Nikolaus Otto, who invented it in 1867. The four strokes are the Intake stroke, Compression stroke, Combustion stroke, and the Exhaust stroke. The core of the engine is the cylinder, with the piston moving up and down inside the cylinder. Most cars have between 4 and 8 cylinders. With a multi-cylinder engine, the cylinders usually are arranged in one of three ways: inline, V or flat (also known as horizontally opposed or boxer).
Other important Lincoln car parts that work to make the engine work are the following: Spark plug, which supplies the spark that ignites the air/fuel mixture so that combustion can occur. The spark must happen at just the right moment for things to work properly; Valves, the intake and exhaust valves open at the proper time to let in air and fuel and to let out exhaust. Note that both valves are closed during compression and combustion so that the combustion chamber is sealed; the piston, which is a cylindrical piece of metal that moves up and down inside the cylinder; piston rings provide a sliding seal between the outer edge of the piston and the inner edge of the cylinder. The rings prevent the fuel/air mixture and exhaust in the combustion chamber from leaking into the sump during compression and combustion and they keep oil in the sump from leaking into the combustion area, where it would be burned and lost; the connecting rod, which connects the piston to the crankshaft. It can rotate at both ends so that its angle can change as the piston moves and the crankshaft rotates; and the crankshaft, which turns the piston's up and down motion into circular motion just like a crank on a jack-in-the-box does. Considering the amount of Lincoln parts and components that must work together to make the engine effective, there is a lot the can go wrong. And when something goes wrong it is time for auto repairs and replacement car parts. When that happens, the Reedman-Toll Lincoln Mercury Service and Parts department is here to serve you!
Used Lincoln Cars: Affordable Elegance
Lincoln is an automaker that provides luxury, high quality vehicles, thus offering an excellent option for those in the used car market. Despite the fact that used cars may need more repair than a brand new one, and it may be necessary to replace Lincoln car parts, many used cars have a long life left in them, as vehicles of today are much more reliable than those of the past. The Lincoln Navigator is one of Lincoln's most popular vehicles. A huge full sized luxury SUV, the Navigator offers family travel, cargo space, and towing capability in style. Another trademark of Lincoln is the Town Car sedan. The Lincoln Town Car is one of the most established automotive nameplates in America, and although it has taken many different forms since it debuted as a trim level for the 1969-'71 Continental, its purpose remains the same: to spoil up to six occupants with spacious and luxurious accommodations no matter where in the car they are sitting. Since then, the big, V8-powered rear-wheel-drive Town Car has been Lincoln's flagship sedan. More recently Lincoln has a product a line of "M" series cars: the MKS, MKT, MKX, and MKZ. These are Lincoln's new wave of automobiles and include two sedans and two crossovers. They are an excellent option for those looking for a used car with up to date technology and style.
